Company History
New England CM is a
Massachusetts corporation founded by Steven Leacu, Bipin Patel, Ron Souza, Nelson Araujo, and
Charlie Patel. Principle offices and manufacturing
are located in a 5000 sq. ft. facility at
31 Hayward
St.
in
Franklin, Massachusetts
. All of the founding members have extensive backgrounds in the areas of manufacturing
and testing of complex SMT power supplies, digital panel meters, I/O boards, and
Hybrid data conversion products. The primary focus of the company is providing surface mount contract
manufacturing services for the electronics industry.
Traditionally, most manufacturing operations were an integral part of companies
providing electronic products. As the costs of capital equipment, labor, overhead,
regulatory fees and taxes increased, companies looked to out-sourcing their manufacturing
operations to remain competitive within the global marketplace. Cheaper labor rates
in Asia, especially
China
, made an attractive alternative to domestic production. Manufacturing costs that
are half of what it would cost to build it domestically were not uncommon.
While the cost savings at first glance appear attractive, there is a flip side.
Manufacturing abroad involves import/export duties, delays due to Customs agencies
on both sides, communication barriers, quality concerns, and end-users inability
to readily see where and how their product is built. Domestic contract manufacturing
offers the same services as our counterparts abroad, but with one major benefit;
we are accessible. With this accessibility, customers can reach us during normal
working hours, visit our facilities without extensive travel, transfer materials
quickly, and resolve any issue in an expeditious manner.
To this end, New England CM is committed to providing high quality manufacturing
capabilities, on time, and competitively. We use only state of the art equipment,
and employ only certified operators, technicians, and assemblers.
